365 Birding Challenge 2018: Sudamérica



Third edition of the 365 Birding Challenge, which consists of observation and photography competitions of birds within South America throughout 2018. The regions to participate are: South America (Total region), regions by country (Argentina, Bolivia , Chile, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guiana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela) and sub-regions for the Southern Cone: Patagonia (southern Chile and provinces of Neuquén, Rio Negro, Chubut , Santa Cruz, Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Ríos and Uruguay), Argentine / Chilean Northwest (northern Chile, and provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca and Santiago del Estero), Cuyo and central (provinces of La Rioja, San Juan, Mendoza, San Luis and Córdoba) and Pampas (La Pampa, Buenos Aires and Autonomous City of Buenos Aires).

The competition is individual, but as always, we encourage you to share with groups of friends, since this is another way to enjoy and help to know more the nature that surrounds us.

The categories are five: greater number of species observed, greater number of species documented, better records, better photographs and more protected areas visited. The "most" categories can be followed day by day through site reports, while the results of the "best" categories will be exposed at the end of the year.



How does it work? The record-keeping platform of the annual competition is EcoRegistros, where from the records published by each participant the competitor's rankings are automatically organized for each of the regions in the "Observed" and "Documented" categories, in addition they are made of In order to automatically list the species lists registered in 2018 by each participant in each region, you must only publish the records of the bird species observed throughout the year.

The material can be used in the Freebirds project to enrich online species guides.

There are no prerequisites and the event is totally free and free.

Anyone can participate. Begin the first day of 2018 and finish the last.
It is only necessary to enjoy birdwatching and publish the records!
