Site Philosophy

This site is a meeting point for Birdwatchers, Nature Photographers, "Filmmakers" and Sound Recordists.

Each person can contribute information about wildlife in general, which is automatically inserted in systematic order into the corresponding species record.

We, the EcoRegistros team, believe in two fundamental ideas:

  • COMMUNITY: Large-scale works must be carried out by both generalists and specialists, as well as amateurs and anyone who can contribute valuable information; in other words, they must be carried out by the Community.
The task of keeping any existing work up to date today, whether books or electronic formats, is demanding and physically impossible for one or two people; therefore, new works must be built collectively.
  • TECHNOLOGY: As in any work, organization, ease of development, and communication among peers are required. Thus, technology is used as a means for documentation, with a strongly structured system where ambiguity does not exist and each person can easily obtain the necessary information.
One of the main features of this Site is that it automatically generates geographic distribution maps based on the records entered for each species, updated instantly after any change.

This tool is our contribution to the learning and research of nature, as well as to its dissemination. We hope it will be useful to you.
