Uruguay

General Information

Uruguay is located in the southeastern part of South America, bordering Brazil to the north and northeast, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Río de la Plata to the south, and Argentina to the west. Its territory covers an area of approximately 176,215 square kilometers, with an Atlantic coastline of about 680 kilometers in length. The geography of Uruguay is characterized by being mostly flat, with some hills and mountains in the north and center of the country. The highest region is the cuchilla de Haedo, which reaches a maximum height of about 500 meters above sea level. The Uruguayan relief is also influenced by the presence of numerous streams and rivers, such as the Uruguay River, the Negro River, and the Río de la Plata, which play an important role in shaping the landscape and wildlife.

The vegetation in Uruguay is varied, with grasslands, forests, and hills covering much of the territory. The Atlantic coast features a strip of dunes and sandy beaches, while the interior of the country is characterized by a mixture of pastures and forests. To access Uruguay, there are several international airports, such as Carrasco International Airport, located near the capital, Montevideo.
