Description: Dark-colored, with a short tail, central band, and white tip; slight nuchal crest; huge wings. The female is more brownish.
Geographic Distribution within Argentina: Salta, Jujuy, Chaco, Formosa, Catamarca, Corrientes, and Tucumán.
Habitat: Yungas and forests.
Diet: Snakes, birds, and small mammals.
Breeding: Enormous nest about 1 meter in diameter made of intertwined branches. Only one egg per clutch, oval-shaped and white.
It is extremely rare throughout its distribution.
