Una pareja se encontraba capturando insectos en vuelo, muy probablemente para alimentar a los pichones por el comportamiento de alejarse y volver luego a seguir cazando. Es notorio el batir de las alas más lento que en otros picaflores, además el tamaño realmente grande.
