A consecuencia de la deforestación y quema de vegetación natural, más la inundación por parte del lago de la represa Salto Grande, los animales quedaron sin refugios y sin lugares apropiados para la nidificación. El Volatinero se encuentra realizando un despliegue de cortejo y nidificando en un lugar muy expuesto a los cazadores ilegales y a la gente en general.
