Registrada como B. meridionalis por mayoría de concenso de observadores, aunque no lo comparto, me inclino por la otra especie posible: B. urubitinga por presentar paneles claros en la mano del ala y tener más contrastantes las plumas de vuelo (https://ebird.org/region/ca/post/retos-de-identificacion-rapaces-del-genero-buteogallus), en campo se la veía un ave muy grande, incluso pudimos compararla con un Accipiter striatus.
