N. n. hoactli se distribuye desde Río Negro hacia todo el norte y noreste del país. Esta subespecie suele ser de coloración más clara que la patagónica, aunque posee un morfo oscuro (citado de www.freebirds.com.ar/093.htm), como el del ejemplar que se observa en este registro.
