El mal manejo de las represas, la contaminación y el exceso de algas han generado el desplazamiento de esta Especie, en Brasil, hacia regiones inferiores del río Iguazú, llegando a Argentina hace dos años. La gente arroja monedas y paquetes de galletas para ver como son ingeridos por los peces, sin control.
