Cuando se sienten sujetos o asustados, producen la autotomía de la cola, que sigue moviéndose para distraer a los predadores. Esta se regenera, con bastante rapidez, y en la foto se puede ver una cola en regeneración. Si como alguien advirtió correctamente antiguamente de denominaba horrida actualmente es fasciata
