The Yellow Cardinal (Gubernatrix cristata)
One of the most striking species in South America due to its plumage and melodious song.
Its current distribution is highly discontinuous, with few regions where the species is recorded, in southern Brazil, Central Argentina and Uruguay.
It inhabits open forests and thickets characteristic of the spinal eco-region
In October 2022 I find a couple near the EsterosDel Iberá in Corrientes, Argentina.
I can record some behaviors such as the vocalization of the male and then the pair feeding, as is their habit, digging in the ground in search of larvae and seeds.
