The head is noticeably elongated and narrowed behind the large, prominent eyes, featuring a robust, three-segmented piercing-sucking mouthpart called a rostrum, which curves downward toward the prosternum. The antennae are long, delicate, and divided into four segments. Its forelegs are slightly thickened and specialized for prey capture, frequently covered with specialized, glandular hairs that produce a sticky, viscous secretion designed to enhance grip during hunting.
Geographical distribution: Occurs widely across the South American continent, with established and well-documented populations in countries such as Brazil, Argentina (particularly in northern and central provinces), Paraguay, Uruguay, and eastern regions of Bolivia. It is particularly common within the Río de la Plata basin and across the vast Chaco ecoregion, where environmental conditions favor its development.
