In 2022, a revision of the genus Cleocnemis was published, in which the genus Tibelloides was revalidated and mentions were made of other related genera, although no material from Argentina was included (do Prado et al., 2022). Based on this work, and after exchanging information with colleagues from Brazil and reviewing the available literature in greater detail, we confirmed that the spiders that we had historically identified as Paracleocnemis actually belong to the genus Tibelloides.
The genus Paracleocnemis is valid, but would be restricted to a single, relatively rare species recorded from Termas de Río Hondo, in the province of Santiago del Estero (Paracleocnemis termalis; Schiapelli & Gerschman, 1942). The other species traditionally assigned to this genus, Paracleocnemis apostoli, in fact belongs to a different genus that has not yet been described. For this reason, I have been correcting all records that were previously listed as Paracleocnemis.
