Description: Crown, back, wings, and dorsal tail rufous; ventral tail black with white tips. Face, throat, and subcaudal ochraceous. Whitish chest barred with black. The female lacks the pectoral barring and has the entire ventral side ochraceous.Geographic Distribution within Argentina: Thamnophilus ruficapillus ruficapillus: Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, and northern Buenos Aires.Thamnophilus ruficapillus cochabambae: Salta, Jujuy, and Tucumán.Habitat: Forests and woodlands.Diet: Arthropods and invertebrates.Author of this description: Jorge La Grotteria
