Conservation status according to BirdLife International: Least Concern

Synonyms: Tangara cyanoptera, A[glaia] cyanoptera, Tangara argentea.


This species was previously called Tangara cyanoptera. When some taxonomic sources started referring to Thraupis as Tangara, this same scientific name referred to different species depending on the source consulted, as there was Thraupis cyanoptera. It later became Tangara argentea.
