The following Scarites are very similar to each other, but they differ in size:

Scarites anthracinus: 20-25mm.
Scarites melanarius: 25-30mm.
Scarites paraguayensis: 30-35mm.

Records must be cataloged using the following criteria:

Specimens of 20-24mm --> Scarites anthracinus
Specimens of 26-29mm --> Scarites melanarius
Specimens of 31-35mm --> Scarites paraguayensis
Specimens of 25mm or 30mm --> Scarites sp.
Any record without a comment --> Scarites sp.
