Conservation status according to BirdLife International: Least Concern

Synonyms: Formicivora rubricollis.


Description: Black, long tail with a white tip; reddish ventral; gray head with black crown and mask; black wings with dotted white strips. The female is paler.

Geographical Distribution: Misiones.

Habitat: Tacuarales.

Behavior: Confident and secretive. More often heard than seen.

Previously considered a subspecies of the Brazilian Tiluchi (Drymophila ferruginea).
