Description

Taxonomic Notes:

-10/12/2022: HBW and BirdLife Taxonomic Checklist v7 considers Colaptes campestroides as a full species. In EcoRegistros, we apply an "EcoRegistros Exception" to consider it unrecognized as a valid species, following Gill et al. (2022) and Remsen et al. (2022). We consider it a subspecies of the Black-collared Woodpecker (Colaptes campestris), which now includes both subspecies (with a white throat and black throat), unifying the species with its subspecies under the common name "Campo Woodpecker."
