La planta acuática que forma una especie de islote en torno del Cuervillo de Cañada, se llama comúnmente "Lagunilla" (Alternanthera philoxeroides), pero en Salta la conocemos como "Gambarusa" o "Moco Moco" Si bien la especie es nativa de Argentina, su carácter invasor hace que se la encuentre en distintas partes del mundo, como: Australia, China, India, Tailandia y el propio EEUU, solo para nombrar algunos países.
