Synonyms: Lycosa thorelli, Alopecosa moesta.
Alopecosa moesta belongs to the so-called "thorelli group," which consists of several very similar species that would form a new, yet-to-be-described genus, whose systematics have not yet been resolved. For a long time, it was considered as Lycosa thorelli due to its similarity to this species, but L. thorelli is only found in Colombia. Until the new genus to which it belongs is described, the valid name for specimens from Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and southern Brazil is considered to be Alopecosa moesta.Comment by: Luciano Peralta
