Description: The crown and back are lead-colored, wings are black with a white band, tail is black, rump and ventral parts are cinnamon, and the throat is black. The female is olive green dorsally, contrasted with a lighter ventral side, indistinguishable from most females of other Sporophila species.Morpho: See Black-collared Seedeater (Sporophila ´caraguata´).Geographical Distribution within Argentina: It is the Capuchino species with the widest distribution within Argentina, ranging from the north to Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, eastern Córdoba, Santa Fe, and Buenos Aires.Environment: Grasslands, cardales, and crops.Diet: Seeds.Behavior: Territorial.
