In Argentina, there are 7 species belonging to the genus Metepeira cited: M. calamuchita, M. compsa, M. galatheae, M. gressa, M. karkii, M. rectangula and M. vigilax. These species cannot be easily and safely identified through photographs.

Based on this comment, to publish records of any species, the identification method used is required, whether by a specialist, by elimination due to the distribution of each species, by analyzing the specimen in a laboratory, etc. Any material that does not meet this requirement will be classified as Metepeira sp.
