This fish is adapted to aerial respiration, and the specialized organ for this function is the swim bladder. It lives in the swamps and normally surfaces every 10 minutes; the intake of air through the mouth and its access to the swim bladder has been experimentally proven (Ringuelet, 1969).Author of this compilation: Carlos Grassini
