The forewings, or tegmina, are olive green with yellow veins, while the hindwings are a vibrant red or pink with dark margins, which are conspicuously displayed during flight. The nymphs of Chromacris speciosa are striking, featuring a shiny jet-black body with bright red or orange accents on their heads and legs, clustering together to amplify their warning signal through collective visual impact.
